Little Bird Shaped Wagashi Sweets Made by a Japanese Chef
Japanese sweet shops are famous with their creative sweets. Nerikiri wagashi (Japanese sweets) is a famous traditional confectionery made out of anko (azuki sweet red bean paste), mochi (pounded rice and fruits. Since the ingredients are soft, chefs are allowed to shape the wagashi in any kind of design.

Kurokazu is a sweet shop owner (Wagashidokoro Kisshōan in Shōnan) who creates quite pretty, fancy wagashi. The most recent sweet forms that he uses are plump little birds in various colors. Kurokazu makes adorable, yellow cockatiels filled with koshian (red bean paste) inside. Also, there are green and blue budgerigars that came out of his creativity.

Apart from birds, Kurkozasu bakes various kinds of wagashi characters. Puffer fishes, flower shaped snacks are just two of those amazing confections!
